# Ambient sound credits

Every loop in `public/static/sounds/ambient/` is a field recording taken from
the radio aporee ::: maps collection on archive.org, trimmed to its most
stationary stretch, high-pass filtered to remove handling and traffic rumble,
loudness-normalised to −20 LUFS and crossfaded into a seamless loop.

Only licences that permit commercial use and modification were used: Public
Domain Mark and CC BY. Recordings under NonCommercial or NoDerivatives terms
were rejected during sourcing, however good they sounded.

Brown and pink noise are not recordings — they are generated in the browser
from their mathematical definitions (see `ambient-engine.js`), which is both
exact and free of any source material.
